AN YEAR WITHOUT INSTAGRAM

 " I don't catch feelings, I catch flights"

"Be the best possible version of you" (with filters, of course)

"Pumpkin, spice and everything nice"

"Cause darling I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream"

"I woke up like this. #freshface #natural"   (#jhooth)

Oof! I'm so glad I don't have to go through these cliched Instagram captions every other day. Yes, it's been an year since I quit Instagram, and believe me, it was the best decision of my life! I no longer have to see the same story whenever it rains or a new Avengers trailer is out. Nor do I have to spend hours looking for a perfect caption (which makes sense of course) to suit my posts. But, everything has its own pros and cons, right?

Apart from my general detest for all social media, I deleted my Instagram account for 3 primary reasons-:

1) YEH SAB MOH MAAYA HAI- It was the time I realized that everything, literally everything on social media is fake. Whether it's that natural look or the home workout, all of it is filtered! Yes, I believe in preserving memories, but not at all in 'publicising' them. You may think yourself, that if you're experiencing something truly magical, or one of the happiest moments of your life, the very first thought you'll have is of picking up your camera. The result will be that sadly, you end up experiencing it through the lens... So, those 'LIVE IN THE MOMENT' captions remain just words and are never really implemented.

2) THE PEOPLE- It is something that I experienced and might not necessarily be the case with you. Since childhood, I've been a cynic. I hate people(except a few of course). Idk if it's the way I was brought up, but I feel that no one in this world has a good intention. But, I'm an extremist! A simple 'hello' or 'how are you' can make my days too(weird me)! So, I never really liked the people on social media. They pretended to be something which they absolutely weren't! I mean, I personally know a few people who might not have an inch of the confidence they showcase on Instagram.

Also, the level of closeness on Insta is exponentially increased as compared to real life! I've seen people writing 'cutieeee', 'soo prettyyy' and then 'says the prettiest' in comments on each others' post. But, backbitching about them the very next day in school!! Matlab, kahan se laate ho itna dil? If you don't mean it, then simply don't write it, aur kya! I could actually go on and on about the multifaceted nature of poeple on Insta, but chalo koi ni, kisi aur din..

3)ME- This is solely my problem and to be honest, I'm working on it. There's no way to sugarcoat it, but I get affected quite fast. If someone's vacaying in Goa or Switzerland and I'm in my room stuck with my books, then of course I'll get affected. It makes studying or doing the task in hand way harder. And no, I won't use the word 'envy' for it, coz I'm not wishing any bad for the other person, rather just wanting the same for me. I've actually come a long way in dealing with this issue. But, the results will be known only when I come back on Insta.

So will I never again make an account? Of course I will. But, only the day when I'm worth something. When in my bio, I don't write a cliched quote or my likes or dislikes, but a title which makes me feel proud. I hope the day comes soon๐Ÿ˜ƒ.

And as someone rightly said "being famous on Instagram is the same as being rich in monopoly."

But, Instagram isn't that bad. It's got MEMES!! And also a few people whom we'd like to remain in touch with... So, ending on a happy note with a meme!

And this one's for me๐Ÿ˜…

So, hope you have a 'pawsome' day!
Keep smiling. Bye bye!
